When I used Joomla and Virtuemart, there were no complaints except for 1 times of downtime, due to a front page hack attack. It took them about 2-3 days to sort things out.
Now I moved to a Magento based site with barely 350 products and barely 90 customers/day (!!!) they claim I need to go to VPS. This seems to me like a poor behavior. I wish I smoke what you do and observe a site with big DB with 10 000 pages without their interest and attention. Just sayin…

One example is that the website details that you can upgrade your account at any time. Turns out that is not actually true if you are on the basic plan. No documentation explains this. It took a couple calls and email to get that answer from staff.

When I expressed interest in moving to a higher plan I was quoted two different prices from two people.

They have been up consistently and are generally OK but their support and documentation needs to be tightened up and more consistent so users don’t waste time needlessly chasing down answers.

Are you serious you have to be considering a lawsuit! For a simple problem that can be fixed in probably an hour tops. Act as if you have lost a ton of money. I am just appalled by comments like this, because people are so quick to get their lawyer and screw someone or a respectable company.

I have had a VPS InMotion account for 2 years and simply love it! They are always willing to help me and transferred a number of my sites with no problems at all. In fact, they even fixed a couple issues for me on some WordPress websites that had a doggy plugin installed.

I will be upgrading to a dedicated plan with them in a couple months. I would highly recommend InMotion hosting they are simply the best!

Let me guess… That’s exactly why I am here trying to decide on a new host! The “upgrade” broke key features of the two sites I manage, without warning. It also caused the billing system to think that our prepaid terms of service had been cancelled, and I had to make several calls to get them to stop sending past due notices and properly credit our accounts. While trying to resolve the technical problems caused by the “upgrade,” I experienced hold times of up to 40 minutes, and most of the tech service people were nearly unintelligible. They also were unable to explain why (unnamed host) did not warn us that certain features of our sites would not work after the “upgrade” (though they knew). I’ve finally gotten the sites running properly again (after hours and hours on the phone), but I’ve had it with (nameless host)! A friend has recommended InMotion, and I will definitely consider it, based on the comments here.

So reliable the thought of anything otherwise completely vacates your thoughts. Support has always been answered thoughtfully within 24 hours (and 24 hours is a bit of an exaggeration frankly…usually a few hours if it’s during business time, tops), and have even had my more left-field questions regarding non-standard CMS’ met with individual research they had obviously conducted as a response to my question. Superb.

I love the company. I tried a few others before finally landing with Inmotion. They have always done their job and a little more for me. One problem over the years that was a coding mistake on my part and they pointed it out, which was really not part of their job. I like them and recommend them highly. My web site has been attacked by the Chinese government twice as they have tried to take it down and both times Inmotion thwarted the attack. One of those times the Chinese took down several web sites during the same day in a very orchestrated attack, some of those web sites were USA government sites, Inmotion kept me whole. Yes my site went down, but I was able to get it back up within just a few hours as Inmotion isolated the attack and the trojan quickly and backed up my entire site quickly.

my URL is www.baronet4Tibet.com of course the Chinese want it down.

Tried to sign up and they said my credit card billing address didn’t match the address I’d entered.

I called them and they suggested maybe it was because the credit card co had the wrong address (they don’t). So after three error messages I gave up and went to another hosting company. Only to have my credit card co call me to verify some suspicious activity – three transactions of the exact same amount to Inmotion. I then called them back only to have the guy tell me that the transaction never went through…promising me it won’t appear on my statement, we’ll see…

We are very happy with the service and reliabliity. (Today not so much, it looks like they are under a DDOS attack right now. Last Friday it happened, now today. Somebody really hates them.) Our site is not a high traffic site but it hosts a lot of tools used by our staff and clients. They keep php/mysql/perl up todate and allow you to add modules that you need to perl and php without having to get support involved.

I would recommend them highly.

I have a VPS at InMotion. I arrived there because my reseller account at HostGator started to suck.
Advice: all the providers sucks!… all of them are overselling their space.
