Our Verdict: iPage Does Not Suck
Some of the bigger problem we heard about iPage is the billing fiasco. Some people mentioned that they kept getting billed after they cancelled their account. We do not know how much this is true because iPage is currently hosting more than 1 million websites and the number is still growing. If it is really a scam, the authority must have cracked it down by now when hundred thousands of customers are at risk. In addition, you can easily avoid the credit card billing problem. We recommend that you sign up using Paypal instead of using a credit card. It is much easier to cancel a subscription on Paypal, and vendors cannot simply bill and charge your Paypal account without your permission.
iPage is one of the most popular web hosting company today
According to a study conducted by America’s premier customer services research firm, TARP, customers are more likely to speak about a company when things go wrong rather than when they go right. On average, customers are twice as likely to talk about a bad experience as they are to share a positive one. So we can safely say that for every negative feedback about iPage, there are two more good iPage reviews we did not hear about.
Verdict: iPage is Not a Scam

I have had no problems with ipage. I tried another company and asked for my money back.
I was referred to iPage through one of my friends. They said they had used them to create a website. I doubt they used the design service but as I am not a website guru I felt that paying a little to get a website up and running was a good idea. Boy was I wrong.
I signed up for the $399 website and thought from the information that I was on the right track. I spoke with a project manager and was told that no I needed to go back and talk to sales. When I talked to sales they said I needed a $799 website site design. I said no that does not sound right so I went back to the project manager again. After bouncing back and forth between sales and PM a couple of times I ended up being told that I needed a $1300 plus design package including an e-Commerce website with a 600 piece bulk upload as they did not have any platform other then that that could handle my 30 plus paintings I wanted to post into a online portfolio. I was really sick with a bug and also really sick of going back and forth and in my diminished state agreed to go ahead with the charge to my card. However, a few days later I spoke with someone in design and she said I did not need all the extras I was being charged for. Here I go again!!! Not only did I have to go back to sales but I was given the same run around.
I finally had had enough with bouncing back and forth and told the person that I was speaking with “look you all are making this way more complicated then it should have been and I want to cancel the design services and frankly everything I have with iPage.” When I said that I was told that I had signed up for additional services and that I would not be able to get my money back and if I did it would be pro-rated. I technically never started the “design process” as the designer and I both agreed that I was not getting the website I needed.
I told iPage on April 25th that I wanted to cancel my services with them. To date I have not gotten any resolution while they say they said it would take 1-3 business days. I have called them and no one seems to be able to give me an answer. They said when I was talking to them all along that I could cancel the services and the website says 100% money back guarantee. I think this is certainly very bad business and very customer service. I am very good about posting reviews on services and products and you can bet that I will back sure everyone knows how poor the service that I have received from iPage is.
I am an artist and all I wanted was a simple portfolio type website where people could see my paintings and my artist statement and blog. What in the world makes that so difficult for iPage to understand – it is certainly not an e-Commerce site. Now I am up against a wall with no website and I have to have something up and running my May 18th. I guess my business cards need to be trashed as my “website” is on there. I don’t see how anyone can give iPage a good review.
Sincerely,
Jane Johnson
Sorry to hear your story although I must say you are making this too complicated. iPage (and any other web hosting company you will find later on in life) will be most suited for one thing – hosting your website.
If you need anything else (design, domain registration, whatever else), there are specialized services that will do that for you. Try your local web designer for example.
