Looking for the best hosting for 2014? Tempted by the cheap prices at Zyma Hosting? Read on.
Zyma.com doesn’t have any bad reviews about it when we searched for “zyma sucks” or “zyma complaints” on January 2011. That was when Zyma has just started and did not have so many customers. However, the same search on Google today resulted in way too many complaint pages about Zyma. Try it yourself.
If you have tried and think that this web hosting service is just not right for you, we recommend that you try inMotion hosting instead. Our inMotion hosting review as well as other reviews about InMotion on the internet about them has been very positive indeed.

If you are looking to get a business web host in the UK or anywhere, you should do a search for keywords “ABC Hosting Sucks” on Google. So in this case, try searching for “Zyma sucks“. This method will reveal the true side of the hosting provider. For Zyma, we found 5,830,000 results on Google. You can also try other keywords such as “Zyma problems” or “Zyma issues”.
Due to a recent downtime on their server on October 4th 2011, thousands of customers were promised 2 months worth of hosting as compensation.
You may have heard about companies like Geocities that got closed down. If you have been monitoring the hosting industry long enough like we do, you probably have heard about the collapse of companies like Registerfly. You may also have heard about accounts being suspended without notice at big companies like Bluehost.
We received an email from Zyma for their downtime but unfortunately, they never honor the promises they made. So if you think the cheap price at Zyma is worth a pun, think again. We recommend trying something like Justhost if you really want something cheap but still reliable for your personal website. At least there are many more positive Justhost reviews out there as compared to reviews in favor of Zyma.
Here is the email we received:
On October 4th one of the servers (panda) in our network experienced a serious software fault, which consequently lead to an outage lasting a total of 10 days. Our engineers have been working hard to resolve the problem, and we are now pleased to say that issue has now been permanently resolved and that no data loss has occurred. We acknowledge the fact that no information was sent to our customers and we deeply apologize for the lack of information and updates sent to the affected customers regarding this matter.
Compensation:
We understand that customers experiencing this problem felt alot of anger as they were unable to reach our tech support team during the downtime period. To show our commitment to constantly improving our service, we are now offering all affected customers 2 months of free hosting credit being added directly to their account. To redeem the free credit, simply send a quick email to [email protected] and the domain name that was affected during the downtime period, and we will add the extra credit.Despite the rumours, the company is in excellent financial standing, and we are no way in risk of any kind of bankruptcy. All customer hosting accounts are 100% safe for the duration of their purchase. We are here for the long run and are constantly striving to improving our services. We don’t overload or oversell the number of hosting accounts on any one of our servers.
Once again we sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience and problems caused by this issue and we would like to re-assure all our customers, that this issue has been permanently been resolved, and will NOT re-occur now or in the future.
Thank you for your co-operation and patience in this matter.
Regards,
Support Team

As mentioned by a grumpy blogger named Benjamin on another website, Zyma hosting is a relatively new and just a small company as compared to other players like Godaddy or 1and1. Benjamin believes that this website should not give recommendation to a new host and we should let the big companies have it all. We disagree with this reasoning for not recommending a company, and we still believe that being a smaller company also means a hosting company may be able to take better care of their customers. So to any angry blogger who believes our method is totally flawed, we suggest you stick with your big companies like 1and1 and we wish you good luck.
In short, do you own research to see if Zyma is any good. We do believe that on the Internet, words spread really fast – in a matter of seconds to be exact. If you do not take care of your customers, the words will be out there. Our first review was in favor of Zyma. However, we have received too many complaints about Zyma Hosting thus we believe we should retract any recommendation we made for Zyma.
For £4.95/month year, they could very well be the cheapest hosting in the world. This makes them the best value-for-money hosting second to none. They promise unlimited bandwidth/storage, cPanel, £30 worth of Google ads credits, $75 worth of Yahoo & Bing credits, SiteBuilder, and many of the same features given by premium hosting plans. Is it really possible they are giving so much for so little? Like we said before, they are relatively new. We believe that they want you to spread the words, and you can help them grow. This is a good business strategy for them.
Okay there are things you do not get from Zyma:
You can tell from the above that we are no longer promoting Zyma. Read the Fatcow review and Justhost review and see why these hosting could be better than Zyma. Even a free hosting sites such as Weebly has better uptime.
However, if you want to make your dream of having a personal and super-cheap PHP/MySQL website come true, then go with Zyma. If you do not mind occassional regular downtime on your website, then get a hosting plan and start your website at the lowest price. If you really just need a drag-and-drop Sitebuilder and do not need PHP, MySQL, cPanel and other fancy features, then just get a website from Weebly. It is free!

Find out how |
Hell yeah, they are the best on the market. I don’t know how my 3 websites will behave when they’ll have more than 100 views per day, but I know that Zyma Hosting is VERY GOOD.
I had a technical problem when I tried to access the FTP. I e-mailed them and they responded in 5 minutes ! In 10 minutes the problem was solved. They are great, I really recommend Zyma. I heard about them with Smashing Apps.
My websites are www.csuny.net www.windhunters.eu and www.masajecnt.ro .
Paid for 3 years, at £4.95 a year, in April and hosting was fine until yesterday. Could not get into my cPanel and after chatting to support found out they suspended my account. No reason, no chance to appeal, not even a refund as they say I broke their terms. All I was hosting was a few WordPress blogs. It’s a real pain as for the last week I spent so much time working on SEO. Now I’ve gotta find a new host and start from scratch building my sites.
Hi,
I’ve seen your review on Zyma and wanted to point out their service has been down since around 2.30pm GMT 28.09.2011. It is still down this morning 29.09.2011 with absolutely no update. It’s nice to see they’re own sales pages work, and they’re taking new orders!
They don’t answer calls, have not replied to emails, support tickets (& live chat isn’t unavaliable).
Are you able to verify this with other Zyma users? It’s beginning to look like it was a fly by night company (i.e. sell as many £4.95 packages as possible, then bail).
Thanks
John
Do not use Zyma.
My COntrol Panel stopped working 4 days ago and my website has gone offline.
No replys to support emails.
No replys to Support tickets
Nobody answers the phone.
Their address is:
Zyma Technologies
Suite 2930, Slington House
Rankine Road, Basingstoke
RG24 8PH
This is not a proper address, it is either a POBox or a hot desk.
I would recommend anybody who is currently hosting with them to back up their websites and make preperations for when their services go down.
They are not listed at Companies House!
I think they are a flyby night company.
This address is a self storage depot called access. Does this mean that thier server is in storage?
If you are hosting with them and your service goes down then make sure you raise a dispute with Paypal immediately as you have 45 days to get your money back.
I just hosted with them 2011. Paid, tried to setup hosting and had issues. Posted a ticket with their support and they replied the next day. Set up the website finally, a few days later, the hosting does not work anymore! Posted a ticket with them and now my website, cpanel and access through their site does not work!!!
So far, the ticket has not received a reply and their own website is down.
A word of warning to those considering, need this host to have a few more years under their belt with more positive reviews before you can trust them!
I’m contact Trading standards and I recommend others do the same :
https://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/advice/index.cfm
I tried this, but it is a quite long winded process (going from trading standards to citizens advice to directgov) with a warning that you can be prosecuted if you make a false report. Unfortunately we don’t know for sure if this is a scam or fraud or really bad incompetence.
Terrible company, the panda server went down 3 days ago and they don’t reply to any form of communication or put a status update out. Guessing they have gone bust and run but their site is still up and taking orders and the money (tried out of interest as I know I can get it back through Paypal).
Found out the servers they use are at rapidswitch.com but they won’t help due to client data protection!!
Shame as for the price they had been really good, now need to find a new host.
Can anybody recommend a host with similar C Panel and Softacolous included. I also have to find a new one.
I would recommend Hostgator. I have been using them for more than 7 years now. They are just excellent in terms of support and features. They are very reliable and the plans have cPanel but maybe not Softaculous.
Use coupon code CPANELHOSTING to try them for only $0.01
I am having the same problem with Zyma. I have had my website and an instance of Sugar CRM on my hosting for the past 6 months. 2 weeks ago my site went down. I only notice a few days ago (been busy haven’t been in front of my computer) Only figured it out when I went back through google analytics to see when the last hits were on the site.
No response after several attempts to contact them.
Seems I now have no CRM or website and no way of getting it back. Should have seen the warning signs though. Site has been down for 2-3 days at a time at least once a month since I migrated my site.
Guess you get what you pay for
“If it looks too good to be true it probably is!” I fell for this old chestnut, a whole years hosting for £5. Lots of incuded services.
I also had issues with the free transfer service, but my tickets were answered almost immediately so I decided to transfer my files manually-that takes a lot of valuable time.
Everything was fine for about a week, now I have been offline for three days. No answer to my tickets, phone call and no chat available.
My website is critical to my business. I am an independent IT tutor and I showcase my skills and store my teaching resources for my students and trainees on my website. I am transerfering back to Heartinternet who are pricey, but I have never had any down time in 3 years.
I was pay to 2 years Hosting . for my site. but i asking to get help because of my site not online. i dont understand. no any one answer to The Phone and not a a reply . now almost 2 weeks. what can do…please help someone or give to me advised .
My site is
www.parisbeam.com
Thanks
I signed up with Zyma back in June 2011 and things were going very well. About a month ago I submitted a support ticket but it wouldn’t go through and then I forgot all about it. Then I hear from a friend a few days ago that many websites hosted with Zyma have gone down. The server my site is on seems to still be running but am now sure this will soon shut down so I’m moving swiftly to a new host! If you can, do a full back up.
I paid a full year up front for my services with Zyma which has taught me a lesson. I shall always pay monthly from now on!! Hosting companies should not be allowed to be paid up front for a full year or more just because of this reason.
Their address is some sort of pick up mailing address service and not a proper office address. They probably work from a back room in someone’s house and god knows what they’ve done with all our personal details held on their accounts!
Yep confirmed – Get out now people!
My site has been running fine since May 2011 but the last 2 days my email has been down.
Opened support tickets which are being ignored, no answer on phone or live support.
I am backing up my stuff as we speak and getting the hell out…
Not happy one little bit, but hey “you get what you pay for!”.
- In this case sod all…
Zyma is the worst hosting in the world. For anyone looking to opt for this service, I will assure you that you are wasting your time and money on this shit like service.
My Story:
I usually don’t trust any newcomers when it comes to hosting, I mostly go with Hostgator whenever I need to host my sites. But around Nov 2012 I participated in a contest on one of favorite blogs, was announced as a lucky winner of a contest and won 1 year free hosting on Zyma. Those days I was planning to start a new blog so I thought of trying Zyma for that.
In the first few days everything was going good, I was impressed with the speed and uptime. But my happiness was short-lived. After about a month my site was hacked. Note I was using a very strong password and some security plugins but despite of it somehow my site was hacked. After talking to some fellow bloggers, I came to know that actually some Bangladeshi hackers have hacked some zyma severs and have defaced all the sites on them.
AsI have a habit of taking regular backups of all my blogs, so this hacking was not much of a trouble for me and I restored my blog the very next day. Then I contacted zyma support and they give me a list of 6-7 resource extensive plugins and told me to install them on my blog. These plugins were security related plugins, may be after being hacked they forced every user to use these plugins. Due to these plugins the load time of my blog increased from 1.2 seconds to 4.3 seconds. But I didn’t cared too much as it was a relatively new site.
After this for couple of months everything was going good my traffic was increasing steadily and things were back on track. And one fine day Zyma blocked my account. I contacted their support and they told me that your site was utilizing too many resources so we have put it down. I asked them which plugin was causing this and they told me that they don’t have the details, on this I asked them to make my site running and I will correct everything but they refused to do this.
They told me to pay for a semi dedicated server but my traffic was only 200 daily visitors. I told them for a site having such less traffic shared hosting is the best (I know some guys who have 5000+ daily visitors and they too use shared hosting). I told them I cannot afford semi dedicated server so grant me my sites access I will remove the resource extensive plugins but they didn’t give me any access.
After this I purchased a new account on hostgator and asked the zyma guys to give me FTP or Cpnnel access for taking a recent backup of my site as I need it for migrating but they denied saying that we have deleted your account. This made me angry and I was out of my mind, I told them how you can delete my account as I still have around 6 months of hosting left. On this those guys logged-off chat and made it unavailable somehow. Also they didn’t picked my phone.
Then I was only left with the option to use my existing backup (1 week old or so) and write 3 posts (that were not in the backup) again.
This incident has taught me a lesson not to use any cheap or free things when it comes to business. I think this story would also tell you about those unprofessional bunch of crooks at zyma.
